Center of Excellence on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences for Sustainability

BACKGROUND

Center of Excellence on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences for Sustainability (CE FASS) is established under the Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Royal University of Agriculture, focusing on both freshwater and marine ecosystems through the study of capture fisheries, aquaculture, post-harvest fisheries, and various characteristics of freshwater, estuarine, and marine environments.

VISION

Well-trained scientists apply principles of science-based aquatic resource management to improve food security, inform conservation policy and action, and sustainable development.

MISSION

To conduct research that informs science-based policy making, aquatic resource management, and biodiversity conservation and produce the next-generation of leaders in fisheries and aquatic science.

GOALS

1. Capacity-Building

- Develop academic credits, courses and workshops

- Enhance skills and competencies in teaching, research, outreach

- Increase public awareness and engagement

2. Research

- Conduct interdisciplinary research (biological, ecological, social, economic aspects etc.)

- Support evidence-based policy making and decision making

- Collaborate with national, regional and international partners and stakeholders

3. Infrastructure

- A state-of-the-art laboratory for research and education

- Field stations (TechPark) along the Mekong River and coastal provinces of Cambodia

- Advanced technologies and equipment
