Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (FAERD) was founded in 1999 aiming to provide knowledge for ready to work for community and make business in agriculture. FAERD’s curriculum is considerably linked with education, research and extension; these three elements have gradually ensured qualified human resources. Furthermore, students have chance to get experience during study period by participating in projects, study tour, internship and exchange program through various networks and collaborations. The faculty updates its curriculum regularly to meet the market needs at national and international level; recently, the course of Rural Tourism, Rural Entrepreneurship, Adaptation to climate change Agri-business and Payment for Environmental Services are integrated.

The faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (Faculty of AERD) was officially established in January 1999 at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) under the technical and financial support of the PARFAAC II program and l’agence du casses pour le développement with strong initiations of Prof. Marc Dufumier, Dr. Sam El Meach, Asso.Prof. Kathy Bora, and many RUA lecturers. The faculty of AERD envisions to produce future leaders in the field of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Ecosystem Services, Agroecology, and Rural development to engage in development oriented research and public services that would promote innovation and sustainability. It has its missions and objectives to: (1) educate undergraduates and graduates and community in the related fields; (2) provide research and publication; (3) provide training and extension on incubation and entrepreneurship; and lastly (4) provide consultation on agricultural economic and environment.
