Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture

The Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture (FoFA) is one of the faculties at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA). FoFA was established in 1964 and re-opened in 1986 after the war. FoFA’s vision is to become an outstanding faculty for educating fishery and aquaculture sciences with regional and international recognition. Its primary mission is to produce qualified manpower in fisheries and aquaculture through training, promoting research, development, technology transfer and dissemination related to fishery and aquaculture sciences and its allied disciplines. FoFA equips itself with human resources capable of delivering lectures, practical classes, conducting research, and providing support services to students and the community. FoFA is currently operated under three departments namely Department of Aquaculture, Department of Fisheries Management and Conservation, and Department of Fisheries Products Technology. In support of its teaching, training and research, FoFA has student classrooms, a meeting room and offices for teaching and research staff, a basic bio-ecology/water quality laboratory, a newly built fish collection room and a 4-hectare aquaculture farm in the RUA campus in Phnom Penh. In addition, RUA has established a Center of Excellence on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences for Sustainability (CE FASS) under FoFA. CE FASS’s mission is to drive science-based policymaking and train the next generation of fisheries and aquatic science leaders. It aims to position Cambodia as a leader in capacity development, sustainable fisheries management, aquaculture development, and aquatic conservation. The center aligns with international frameworks such as the FAO Blue Transformation Roadmap and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 2, 14, and 15.
